BanPaKwee - Growing
Futures in Thailand Living on the Thai-Burma border 10 participants attended a two day permaculture training course in December 2007. Learning advanced organic farming techniques aimed at boosting soil fertility, maximising productivity and securing food and water supply into the future. A community garden was created including vegetables, fruit trees and fish tanks which in time may replace ongoing food aid. The garden can also act as a valuable curriculum based learning tool for maths, science and language for children who may have difficulty adjusting to a rigid classroom environment. Possible future activities include additional training opportunities, providing breeding stock (cows and buffalo) and other economic empowerment opportunities. Coordinators will return to the village in May. |
DONATIONS ... do you see an opportunity to be empowered for yourself?Donating ... the act of giving
freely with no expectation of reward or even recognition
is empowering to different people in different ways. Some comments
donors have made which express their experience of
empowerment.
"I have been able to actually see the difference my donation has made. My contribution has transformed the lives of the people in the village and it has actually transformed how I see myself. Who I am." "Our organisation has sponsored Aliamos. We see it as an investment with the highest return. It is fantastic to get on board with such an inspirational charity making a real difference. We are honoured for our logo to be on the sponsors page and publications" "I am happy with my choice to donate because I know that what I have given will mean so much more to the communities. I feel so connected to this community like they are my family. My bigger family, the global family. It has really grounded me in nature and everything."

| Lubanda - Water for
Life Uganda Children have to travel 3.5km to get fresh drinking water and along the way girls risk being attacked, may fall pregnant and drop out of school. A water tank will transform lives. A 15,000lt metal tank, gutters and pipe has been purchased ($770 spent). A pilot feasibility study into a cost effective (~$100) 40,000lt tank using traditional mud round house and plastic sheeting construction will be undertaken. This technology if successful will expand the opportunities to provide for community water needs throughout Uganda. | ||
